Branding and Identity

In 2011, Robert A.M. Stern Architects saw a bit of a rebrand. The old logo, putting the name STERN large and in the center, did not properly communication the collaborative nature of the firm and the many partners within it. The decision was made to embrace our acronym, RAMSA, which had long served as our internal brand as well as being our website moniker.

For the logo itself, I used Trajan instead of the previous Adobe Garamond, recalling the covers of the firm’s monographs. Futura was chosen for all sans serif needs, providing nice contrast to the more traditional typeface of the logo and acting as a subtle reminder that the firm was well versed in a range of architectural styles. All print materials, from project sheets to letterhead to business cards, were revamped in addition to everything digital including presentations and all things web.
